Tello is an iOS video editing and captioning app developed by Orca Labs. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how Tello collects, uses, and safeguards your data when you use the app.
Local Video Processing: Videos and edits are processed locally on your device. Tello does not upload or store your videos on external servers. Your source videos and edited exports stay on your iPhone or iPad unless you choose to share them.
On-Device Speech Recognition for Captions: Tello uses Apple's Speech framework to generate captions from audio in your videos. Audio is extracted from your video and processed entirely on your device for all locales. Tello does not transmit your audio, transcripts, or caption content to Orca Labs servers.
Analytics and Crash Reporting: We use Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics for basic analytics and crash reporting. These services collect general usage data (such as feature usage and device/OS information) and crash logs to help us improve app stability. We do not receive personally identifiable information (PII) through Firebase, and data is used in aggregate. Firebase data is handled under Google's Privacy Policy.
Advertising (Google AdMob): Tello displays banner and interstitial ads using Google AdMob. These ads are strictly non-personalized, meaning they are not based on your personal profile or behavior. Google may collect limited device information (such as IP address and device identifiers) for ad delivery, frequency capping, and fraud prevention. No personally identifiable information (PII) is collected by Tello or shared with Google through AdMob. For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy and how Google uses data from partner apps.
Apple Services for Purchases: Subscriptions and lifetime purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store. Apple processes payment information according to its own privacy policies. Tello does not access or store your payment details.
Analytics and Crash Data: Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics data is retained according to Google's standard data retention policies.
No Personal Data Storage: Orca Labs does not collect or store your personal information on our servers. Since Tello processes content on-device and does not require account registration, we have no user accounts or personal data to retain.
Permissions: Tello may request access to your photo library to save edited videos, and may request speech recognition permission to generate captions. You can grant or revoke these permissions at any time in iOS Settings. If you deny a permission, the related feature may be limited or unavailable.
Managing Firebase Data: Although Tello does not store personal data, Firebase analytics and crash data can be managed under Google's policies. For information on data retention or deletion requests, please refer to Google's Firebase Privacy information.
Ad Preferences: Tello only serves non-personalized ads. You can control ad-related preferences at the device level. On iOS, go to Settings > Privacy > Tracking to disable ad tracking, or Settings > Privacy & Security > Apple Advertising to turn off personalized ads.
Tello is available for users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). Because Tello does not collect personal data beyond anonymous analytics, there is no special data collected from children.
